You Said WHAT About Salvation? (Why I'm Persuaded To Believe In The "Free Grace" Position)

Over the years as I've studied and commented on scripture, both in online conversation and in the weekly Bible study of The Christian Geek Central (and formerly "Spirit Blade Underground") Podcast, I've expressed some views on "Salvation" and Eternal Life that may have led some listeners and viewers to do a double take, think they misheard me, or even become a bit alarmed.

Some years ago I became persuaded to adopt what is known as the Free Grace view of Salvation. It is related to the topics of Eternal Security, Assurance, Perseverance Of The Saints, Saving Faith, Eternal Rewards, and the view known as "Lordship Salvation".

When operating under the brand of Spirit Blade Productions or Christian Geek Central, it's not my priority to make doctrinal issues like this a focus of my content. But I've received just frequent enough questions about this issue that I thought it was probably time to at least collect my relevant comments in one place that I can easily refer people to, along with what I hope are some helpful reasources to learn more about the Free Grace position.

If you absorb all of this content and come away unpersuaded, that's totally fine by me! I admire many Christians who don't hold the Free Grace position, including some scholars whose work I greatly value and respect. So disagreeing with me on this puts you in good company!

Even so, I hope you'll be open to taking a fresh look at the nature of how we obtain the free gift of eternal life, and be encouraged by the confidence you can have that this immeasurably wonderful gift is really yours and can never be lost.
