"Star Wars: The Force Awakens"...was okay - CGC UNCUT REVIEW

Comments

  1. Definitely think you are on point.
I thought the first five minutes were quite possibly the best 5 minutes in all of SW. The rest of the film just didn't live up to that standard.
Time was a big issue, nothing was explored deeply enough to give weight to the actions. If you had not seen the rest of the films, would you really care at all that Kylo Ren kills Han Solo, or would you just care that a guy kills his dad?
Fin... Fin was a little problematic. For a guy who just "awakened" and was seriously troubled about killing people, he sure adjusted quickly, and positively. Not that he was bad, but that we didn't see enough of the change. (for my taste)
And Ray (Rey?) either she is more powerful than all other Jedi who have ever lived, or she is a real natural with the Force. I'd buy either, or both, but the way it is portrayed so far makes it seem very cheap to her.
And I know that Kylo Ren was hurt by the fight scene, but both Fin and then Ray, who are both completely lacking in light saber training fight him fairly evenly? Well, No, Ren, you aren't a shadow of Vader.
Still, those are the complaints... I'd put this movie right under episodes 5 and 4, with the possibility that what comes after will have an effect on its weight.

    1. Your last point is a really good one. If they follow up well then history could look back on this movie as excellent set-up for the future of the franchise. Thanks for your thoughts, Mikel!
