Does "Star Wars" Model A Biblical Worldview?

Image
"Relevant", the Christian pop-culture magazine, recently published an article entitled "The Gospel Of 'Star Wars'" that I found to be an interesting read. The author starts by saying "From a Christian perspective, the films’ story and worldview offer plenty both to commend and critique. And that means, as is almost always the case, neither uncritical acceptance nor wholesale rejection is the right path." I can definitely get behind this statement, although the article left me with the impression that the author wanted to provide a counterpoint to those Christians who might react angrily to Star Wars for the Eastern Buddhist style of philosophy it promotes. The article largely focuses on the positive elements to be found in the themes of the Star Wars franchise. As I've hopefully emphasized in the past, I don't think entertainment that promotes counter-biblical thought is something to become antagonistic about. But after reading th

All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. "Wolverine" Is A Professing Christian

In a recent interview with Parade Magazine , Hugh Jackman opened up frequently about his faith throughout the interview. Although the specifics of his faith were underneath some fairly vague or even popular spiritual phrases and ideas, the subject of his faith came to the surface numerous times without being prompted and he specifically identifies himself as a Christian. It makes for an interesting read!
